Lesson 2 of 5
Saving vs Spending
🎯 In this lesson you'll learn:
- •Learn the difference between saving and spending
- •Understand why saving is important
- •Discover fun ways to save money
Aanya's Pocket Money Dilemma
Every Saturday, Aanya gets ₹100 as pocket money. She loves buying stickers, ice cream, and small toys. But she also wants a ₹500 art kit.
If she spends all ₹100 every week, she'll never have enough for the art kit. But if she saves ₹50 each week, after 10 weeks — that's ₹500!
Saving means keeping money for later instead of spending it right now. Spending means using money to buy things.
The Piggy Bank Power
Aanya's grandma gave her a piggy bank 🐷. Every time Aanya saved money, she dropped it in. After a few weeks, it was heavy and full!
The fun part? She could shake it and hear the coins clinking. That sound meant she was getting closer to her art kit.
Tip: You don't need a real piggy bank. A jar, a box, or even an envelope can work!
The 50-30-20 Rule
Some grown-ups use a simple rule for their money:
• 50% for things they need (food, rent, school fees) • 30% for things they want (toys, movies, treats) • 20% for saving (for big goals or emergencies)
You can try a kid version: save at least ₹10 out of every ₹50 you get!
